Here the students are measuring. They will have to make some 3d drawings and be able to calculate how much this instalation will cost. The students must also explain how to build with minimal waste of material

  1. You have certainly put a lot of thought into designing your lessons and your learning activities. The students must be very involved in these real life experiences and it is a full project for them. I am interested in how you will assess your students' work.

  2. Yes there is a lot of work to get together this lesson. I rate the matrix based on ratings of the course the only thing I do is to replace my practical elements to these moments. These elements are at a much higher level than what is in the course so we get students who are working better and reach a higher level than before.

  3. Dear John, this is an interesting post to the blog. In Australia VET students are assessed on the basis of the competencies and their performance criteria. Do you think that your way of assessing using the matrix would be the same?

  4. Yes, the assessment can not I see that the hard part it's very easy to see who does what and you get an insight into how students think. The hard part is creating the right project at the right class

  5. Oh yes I absolutely agree. There are so many things to take into our thinking. In Australia we have projects that integrate a whole number of different competencies and we call this 'wholistic assessment". Do you have any equivalent name in Swedish?
